Three weeks of fish

I’ve decided that it would be impossible to write up a full report of three weeks of almost nonstop fishing, so I’m just going to give you the highlights and some of the cool micro catches.

Freshwater:

the only freshwater micros I caught on this holiday were a gudgeon and a few stone loaches, I’ve been after a stone loach for ages now so to catch about fve of them in just a few minutes was fantastic! I always see them under stones in this stretch of river but I have never been able to get one to bite, it seems the key to my success was overcast and rainy weather and insanely small baits.

Saltwater:

For the first time ever I have actually been rather successful fishing in the sea, I owe my success to my neighbours for taking me out in their dinghy. We caught dabs and flounders on the first day and a common dragonet on the second trip.

I also did a bit of micro fishing in the sandy pools that formed along the groynes on the beach, I caught common blennies and sand gobies.

Here is the best sand goby.

And my smallest blenny, at 23mm.

Other fish I caught during the trip are pike, perch, roach, rudd, bream and dace.

Sorry for the brief report, hopefully next time I do a long holiday and get some more fish I can write up a more detailed and full report.

Cheers,

Hugo.

Video of my trip to Italy

I have made this video of the fishing I did in Italy last week, you will get to see some of the beautiful scenery and some interesting fish. I have also identified the gobies I caught as martens gobies padogobius martensii, not the elusive arno goby but still a pretty awesome catch I think!
